The research is in. America is an oligarchy

America is an oligarchy (like Orwell’s 1984), not an anarchy (like Golding’s Lord of the Flies), confirmed by research studies at Princeton and Northwestern. Rich people had a much bigger impact on policy decisions than middle-income and poor Americans, even though there are 100 times more middle class and lower class citizens. Lower-income groups, and the interest groups that represent them, appear to have little or no independent impact on policy.
“Our analyses suggest that majorities of the American public actually have little influence over the policies our government adopts,” said researchers Gilens and Page.
So, go ahead and vote for incumbents.  {heavy sarcasm}
