Race is a political fiction. I encourage you and your family and friends to read the book titled “DNA” : “Who we are and how we got here.” By Dr. David Reich. His genomics laboratory and his associates leading other genomics labs examined ancient DNA samples going back tens of thousands of years past to hundreds of thousands of years past and they are able to discern the many migrations of early humanoids and the many instances of interbreeding that have occurred. The hard science of whole genome analysis on samples of ancient DNA refutes the mental construct of “race.” There is no such thing as a pure race, or even majority pure race. That includes groups lost on remote islands for all of known history and pockets of isolated humans anywhere.
Today, a “race” can be distinguished by its common DNA mutations and sequences. But, go back a few tens of generations and that is no longer possible. Migrations and interbreeding were occurring for hundreds of thousands of years. We are all mongrels now.
The geographic location today of a group, society or civilization does not correlate well with its ancient DNA ancestry. The diversity among of those many ancient, migrating and interbreeding groups was farther apart genetically than, for example today, a northern European and a Japanese and there were many more of these very diverse groups back then. Migrations went from west to east and back again and north to south and back again.
You may recall that my business was scientific instruments including those used in the human genome projects. I have visited some of these laboratories and scientists whose work is reported in the very readable book by David Reich mentioned above.
Contrary to the convenient mental construct which we all learned in school, which held sway in science since Charles Darwin, there is no one common tree trunk from which we all branch. That construct has been proven wrong. But that does not imply that Genesis is wrong.
Race, racism, etc is a tool for identity politics to divide and conquer. We are all mixed-breeds, mongrels.
P.S. “A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.” ~ Max Planck (Nobel Prizewinner for Physics and the originator of quantum theory): from Max Planck, Scientific Autobiography.
Dr. Reich’s video lecture here is excellent.
