A shoe string string theory

A shoe string string theory

The leading and current theory in physics is string theory, a string which connects multiple dimensional realms. Despite that virtually all professors of physics are students of string theory, there is no good evidence to support the theory. It’s all theory and nothing but theory. So far no way is known to test it.

Stepping or flying through a doorway, one moment in one dimension and in the next moment arriving in another dimension, but that moment seemed a lifetime when you were in it. That’s string theory.

Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to figure out why you took that step.

  1. Mr. Bromley, from my perspective the overwhelming evidence says there is not one reality but billions of * fake * realities. The fake realities are all in our heads. None of the fake realities are real – they are all illusions created by us. Many independent experiments – conducted over several decades – prove this.

Some people share their view of reality on one or perhaps a few aspects or a few topics of our life experience but beyond that, most people disagree on the vast majority of topics – political, economic, legal, civil, health, nutrition, science, Earth, ocean, the moon, the stars, the atmosphere, lava, magma, mountains, the air, water, flowers, trees, weeds, plants, rocks, minerals, geology, chemistry, glaciology, our human history, our historical timeline, the timeline for our Earth, you name it. Do you know two people who agree on all these topics of * reality * ? Can you find two people who agree on every aspect – of even a few – of these topics?

People don’t even agree on what water is – some say water is a sentient being that reads our thoughts and responds. Much ” evidence ” has been uploaded to support this. Some say plants also read our thoughts and respond – much supporting evidence is available on this as well. Some say animals are here for us to slaughter and eat while others say animals are beautiful creatures who should be treated with respect. Which of these people have a grasp on reality?
Some people believe in fairies are interdimensional beings while others believe in interdimensional reptilians … which of these people have a grasp on reality?

People don’t even agree on what intelligence is, they don’t agree on what truth is and they don’t agree on what health is – even the most basics of life, people do not agree. Since people do not agree on what the reality of our world is – what is the one reality that you speak of?

Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you mean when you say, “The evidence which can be tested says there is one reality.” It’s true that thousands of people can agree on what time to show up for the pro football game – but billions of other people disagree that the football game is worth going to – those billions of people choose other things to value. For that relatively small group of people, their passion – their reality – is football – but for billions of other people, football is 100% irrelevant and a worthless waste of time.

Meanwhile, a whole other group of people say time is an illusion – some of that group refuse to be a part of the illusion of time. They refuse to have a clock in their home, they don’t wear a watch – many won’t even use internet, they refuse to carry a cell phone or any other wifi device. All these people are choosing what they feel is reality.

When billions of people agree on a fiction, does this make it reality? What is this one reality you mention? Do physicists get to define reality for the billions of others? Do chemists get to define reality for the billions of others? Do mystics get to define reality? Gurus? Do the billionaires that control the public airwaves get to define our reality? Who is qualified to define reality?

I have no interest in the pursuit of fame and fortune. I have no interest in football, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. I would not want to waste my life on any of that. I have no interest in status symbols – in Rolex watches, Ferrari’s, living in mansions, vacationing at five star resorts, being indoctrinated by lies at a prestigious university, etc. I’ve known many of those people who pursue that illusion – they are proud of their private tennis club. I would not want to live their shallow lives but to them that is the best reality they can imagine.

My reality is the pursuit of truth, the embrace of peace, my love for enjoying kindness, helpfulness, health, happiness, beauty, brilliance, wonder, justice, magnificence … this is what is real for me.

The evidence which can be tested says there is one reality. As I explained above, string theory has many proponents but no real world evidence, only hypothetical mathematical models which cannot be validated by real world evidence. Where have we heard that before?

Roger Penrose, a physicist mentioned, wrote a book about Quantum Consciousness which I read back in 1999. The highly theoretical model proposes to combine quantum mechanics and neuroscience. The theory, called orchestrated objective reduction (Orch OR), suggests consciousness is at the level of microtubules, which are sub-cellular structures of string-like cylindrical protein lattices that make up the skeleton of all cells including neurons. According to this model, these microtubules act as quantum computers which self-collapse, providing a two-state binary event like a semiconductor bit. When they collapse, which only requires a momentary change in sub-cellular ion balance, there is a conscious moment. Quantum mechanics adds a non-computable moment which differentiates human subjectivity from determinism. My point is that these guys, Penrose and his co-author Hameroff in their book, and others such as Tononi and Edelman, are doing science, the scientific method … i.e. testing their theories against reality in experiments … instead of modelling theoretical mathematics which are never validated against real world experimental data. Tononi and Edelman present real world evidence from neurology and neuropsychology that neural processes underlie consciousness and they can be measured, integrated and differentiated. This is light years away from string theory and global warming theory. It is more than bizarre and unnatural that people like Al Gore, Robert Kennedy, Barack Obama, the United Nations et al are trying to shut down knowledge and science which is directly verifiable by experiment.

There are lots of discussions on multiple dimensions and even movies about shared mental and dream state (e.g. Inception). The thought experiment is pretty far along. But there is no real world evidence.
There is evidence for the special and the general theory of relativity, and there is evidence for quantum physics, and there is evidence of gravity. All of these are theories supported by evidence. But string theory, while very interesting and supported by most physics professors, has no evidence, yet.
