“And it is rather striking that my leading competitor for the Republican nomination, Donald Trump, has been one of the key funders of those liberal Democrats imposing failed policies on the people of Illinois. Donald Trump gave $7,000 to Rod Blagojevich, that’s a fairly remarkable legacy for a Republican candidate for president. He gave $12,500 to the Democratic Party of Cook County. I know the people across Illinois know exactly what it means, the legacy is of Donald Trump who thinks that the Democratic Party of Cook County is an institution he wants to support. Presumably because he supports their corruption and their policies. But actually Donald’s contributions to Blago [former Illinois Gov Rod Blagojevich who is in prison for attempting to sell Obama’s vacated U.S. Senate seat] and Cook County Democrats pales compared to his contributions to Rahm Emmanuel [arch liberal democrat political operative and mayor of Chicago now under duress with more than 50% calling for his impeachment, rated F by NRA, former Obama chief of staff, Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 2005 to 2007 and as the Chair of the House Democratic Caucus from 2007 to 2009, former Clinton adviser, named by Clinton to be board member at Freddie Mac where he earned $320,000 in 2 years during which time Freddie Mac was plagued with scandals involving campaign contributions and accounting irregularities. The Obama Administration rejected a request under the Freedom of Information Act to review Freddie Mac board minutes and correspondence during Emanuel’s time as a director, Assistant to the President Clinton for Political Affairs and as the Senior Advisor to President Clinton for Policy and Strategy, Hillary Clinton supporter. Emmanuel was a leading strategist in White House efforts to institute NAFTA and universal health care, among other Clinton initiatives].. He [Trump] gave $50,000 to Rahm Emmanuel. $50,000. And I think the people of Illinois are fed up with the failed policies of liberal Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, who Donald has written check after check after check to, including two checks he wrote to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. In 2008.” ~ Ted Cruz, speech, Rockport, Illinois. March, 2016
