Another Bush in office will mean another bird in hand.

Jeb Bush is compromised, unacceptable.  His progressive positions on Common Core, his support of abortion, his support of NSA spying on all Americans, his support of amnesty are all unacceptable and out of step with the American people.  In addition to being on the board (until he announced his candidacy) of progressive billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s foundation, which donated tens of millions of dollars to abortion providers and supports Common Core, little know, Jeb Bush has a troubling past including being the conduit for his fathers’s Iran – Contra drugs for arms trade and shady banking deals.  Oh my.  As I said a couple of years ago when his mother told him not to run, Jeb is running in the wrong party.

Accelerating our own demise

Free Market Libertarians (which usually includes me as well as experts like Milton Friedman) with our emphasis on individual liberty suggests that everybody in the world should have the opportunity to rise as high as their talents and energy allow, without the restriction of borders. However, as Roy Beck at NumbersUSA illustrates in his very popular videos, the impact this would have is negligible at best, and at worse, prevents real solutions for third world poverty.

Open borders and thus free immigration are theoretically a good thing in a free market economy. But, we don’t have free market economies in America, in Europe, in Mexico, in China or anywhere really. America is a welfare state. Open borders and free immigration are incompatible with the welfare state; this is reality, not theory.

Can we stop the welfare state and instead allow open borders? America and the world are already on the welfare train and we are stuck on that train until its inevitable crash. Even in the best scenario, it is a huge crash.  Let’s try to not make it worse.

Welfare is not only the hundreds of billions of dollars borrowed each year (new debt) in new federal, state and municipal “entitlement” payments for food stamps, medicaid, disability, jails, unemployment, social services, tax credits for children for illegal aliens, etc. Welfare also includes the hundreds of billions of dollars borrowed each year (new debt) by government on behalf of citizens to pay farmers for not growing certain crops or animals or to reduce the export price of their crops or animals, and the hundreds of billions of dollars borrowed (new debt) by government on behalf of citizens to fund windmills, solar farms, climate research, carbon sequestration and other “green” corporations, new weapons systems, Ex-Im Bank, and gifts to the UN and other countries and the hundreds of billions of newly borrowed dollars (new debt) each year to fund the growing government bureaucracy itself. Welfare is also the billions of dollars borrowed (new debt) each year to pay pensions and healthcare for retired employees at all levels of bloated government. All of that and more are welfare.

We are living in President LB Johnson’s Great Society, a vision from the 1960’s. It is a system that is almost universally recognized to be economically unsustainable.

Welfare is nothing more and nothing less than money borrowed by politicians in your name and put in politicians hands with which they buy votes for themselves to increase their power and keep themselves in office. LBJ knew that. Today, Congress, the Presidents and the courts are institutionally unable to stop themselves, it is a system-wide addiction to spending and cronyism.

Bringing more people into this country increases welfare payouts, basically accelerating the train to its inevitable crash and making that crash worse for everybody. Or another analogy: lifeboat America is already sinking. Bringing more people on board will sink it faster. An Article V Convention of the States (as described in the Constitution) is required to haul the federal government back to the original Constitution. It takes time to get enough states on board.

The tyranny of community organization

Social progress requires individual freedom to choose.  Social progress is reversed or destroyed by government, collective, consensus or media action to suppress individual choice.  Tyranny requires suppression of the individual’s right to choose.  None are more hopelessly enslaved by tyranny than those who believe government, media, consensus or community can provide dignity or honor.  Dignity and honor are characteristics of individuals who are honest with themselves first and then honest with those around them, and they choose on that basis, regardless the collective, consensus, government or media pressure around them.  No other person or institution can bestow dignity or honor.  The country is beyond the point of peaceful return when the majority believes they are choosing social justice.  Punished for flying one symbol but celebrated for flying another, you have been conquered by division.  What did you expect?  That is what community organizers do.  “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? The soul of the matter

The politics of identity results first in the loss of personal integrity followed ultimately by the loss of soul itself. The political end goal of building a constituency, a coalition among a rainbow of special interests which have been created by the divide-and-conquer group identity practices of community organizers and radicals, requires deceit by the politician and self-deceit by the voter. The mendacious politician and the compliant voter rationalize and justify their behavior based on the end goals.  In their minds, the end goals are justified by the means.  They disregard the psychic effects of mendacity.

There is an exception: if all are welcome in the big tent, and the politician stands on principles, tells the truth and allows the votes to fall where they may.

However, remembering and repeating all the lies, their slippery rhetoric, and the various constituent audiences for each has a dire price to the politician’s psyche.  Mendacity requires space in conscious and unconscious mind, reinforced burned-in synapses, which progressively color, then block reception and memory of real life events. So we frequently hear of a politician who is “out of touch.”  And so they are.

Both liar and persuaded voter, true believers as Eric Hoffer calls them, progressively lose their identity and become the lie, emotionally identified with it, living the lie. Unlearning is much more difficult than learning.  The person, whether politician or persuaded voter, progressively becomes pathological, no longer able to think freely, or even to push back against habits of mind reinforced by their emotion.  They become physically addicted to the lies.  Freedom of thought is thwarted, even though the apparent intelligence of the politician may be enormous.

Genius among sociopaths, psychopaths and character disorders is common.  For them, the barriers to unlimited and immoral action are gone.  They are typically charismatic and appear confident.  What Freud called the superego or conscience is warped into narcissism, a defense mechanism by the brain to prevent its disintegration.

The soul is based in freedom, a gift of God, to know thyself.  When constrained by the habits of body or mind or both, the soul flees to find freedom again.  Trust the more humble person who stands on principles rather than rhetoric and is willing to test those principles by defending them in the court of public opinion.  Be highly skeptical of any secretive politician or when their words are so smooth or they seem to be too good to be true; these are the disguises of liars in the process of losing their souls.

Change you can believe in?

The Obama administration is destroying America, yet a large portion of Democrats are calling for more of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton’s socialism.

Fifty-two (52) million people or “21.3 Percent of U.S. Population Participates in Government [means tested] Assistance Programs Each Month.” Between 2004 and 2012, this is an increase of almost 25%. This does not include regular Social Security or regular Medicare. Derelict of Duty

More reports show Donald J. Trump was right on with his immigration comments and Obama is derelict of his sworn duty to protect and probably criminally negligent: “According to a March 2, 2015 “ICE Weekly Departures and Detention Report,…There were 168,680 convicted criminal immigrants who had final orders of removal but who remained at large in the U.S.” …”Another 179,018 convicted criminal immigrants with deportation cases pending also remained at large.”…”In 2013 the Obama administration released 36,007 criminal immigrants who had nearly 88,000 convictions. Obscured by a rainbow

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy said in his opinion for the majority, “Finally, it must be emphasized that religions, and those who adhere to religious doctrines, may continue to advocate with utmost, sincere conviction that, by divine precepts, same-sex marriage should not be condoned. The First Amendment ensures that religious organizations and persons are given proper protection as they seek to teach the principles that are so fulfilling and so central to their lives and faiths, and to their own deep aspirations to continue the family structure they have long revered. The same is true of those who oppose same-sex marriage for other reasons.”

It is worthwhile to point out that the First Amendment specifically protects the “free exercise” of religion.

It is also worthwhile to point out that under the U.S. Constitution, the Supreme Court makes no law.
