EPA’s CO2 Endangerment Finding

Thanks for this article Dr. Ball.  The EPA’s Endangerment Finding (EF) on CO2 is the laughing stock of any scientist, regardless of discipline. By definition, science cannot be done if the data and methods are secret. The Endangerment Finding must be reversed or all science suffers. A bureaucrat, or Congress or the courts cannot control the standards of science, or else we all suffer the consequences.

It is not enough that Obama’s EPA Administrator was charged with contempt of Congress.  The EF must be rescinded and publically repudiated.

The next trend

Here’s the next trend.  It’s already underway.  You can take it to the bank.  It’s the next investment trend.  You can go long and you can short it, or you can hedge it.  But just don’t try to time it.  There is no fuse on human stupidity.

No worries about freezing or burning to death based on empirical observation of nature.  Human population will be long gone or extinct thousands of years before freezing to death or burning up becomes a problem.  Human extinction or interstellar migration will not be based on earth’s temperature.  It will be due to politics and mistakes like political correctness.  Political correctness could kill the earth – at least for the purposes of human life – for example, by killing the easily ignorable oceans with trash, or mistaken attempts at climate engineering such as seeding clouds.  But, the next best thing is more immediate than any of that.

The next trend, the trend that is replacing ‘climate change’ in the continuing tragedy of identity politics known today as “social justice,” is gender equality…also known as #MeToo.  Some of my best friends have already succumbed to that fraud, just as they did to the global warming/climate change fraud.  But, human population is far more likely to become extinct or migrate because men can no longer get it up, having been pussy-whipped by Amazons for so long that they have become infertile and the sperm banks have been emptied.  That will take a while.  But today, you can invest in the cycle, in the trend, in the socionomics of the reality of the trend.

Buy long the companies and countries that ignore the gender equality #MeToo ‘social justice’ fraud.  Over time, they will excel over the companies and countries that buy into the ‘social justice’ fraud of gender equality.  The trend, this fraud, is just another version of identity politics.  There are ways to fine tune it, tweak it and parse it.  But, at the end of the day, your portfolio will be stronger in the companies that ignored it and hired based on merit and competence and weaker in those companies and countries that allowed their hiring and employment practices to be based on equality.

I am not endorsing misogyny.  The Weinsteins, Clintons, Simpsons, and those hiding behind the veil of religion should be in jail.  However, I am endorsing discrimination based on merit and I have long done so on this blog as well as in my life and business.

Here is a good article on the subject by the fearless and brave Heather McDonald at Manhattan Institute, this one published in Imprimis by Hillsdale College, a brave and fearless independent organization well worth your philanthropic attentions.  Enjoy.

Climate change: the divestment of the future

Good article here in the Wall Street Journal, but it is behind a paywall. This scholar at UC Berkeley declares the ‘global warming’ agenda is on its last gasp, as revealed by proponents connecting their cause to the ‘social justice’ agenda. Scientifically, it was dead decades ago, but now its politically dead.

“Scientists who are genuinely worried about the potential for catastrophic climate change ought to be the most outraged at how the left politicized the issue and how the international policy community narrowed the range of acceptable responses. Treating climate change as a planet-scale problem that could be solved only by an international regulatory scheme transformed the issue into a political creed for committed believers. Causes that live by politics, die by politics.” ~ quote from the article in Wall Street Journal by Steven F. Hayward, “a senior resident scholar at the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley”

Above quote is from a good article here on Wall Street Journal, June 4, 2018.

Or the WSJ article is here but not behind a paywall: https://outline.com/yfxm55
The General Accounting Office of the U.S. government (GAO) documents the extent of the waste by the U.S. government.
” Federal funding for climate change research, technology, international assistance, and adaptation has increased from $2.4 billion in 1993 to $11.6 billion in 2014, with an additional $26.1 billion for climate change programs and activities provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009. As shown in figure 1, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has reported federal climate change funding in three main categories since 1993:
• technology to reduce emissions,
• science to better understand climate change, and
• international assistance for developing countries.”

A Disappearance of Nations?

“In recent times it has been fashionable to talk of the levelling of nations, of the disappearance of different races in the melting-pot of contemporary civilization. I do not agree with this opinion, but its discussion remains another question. Here it is merely fitting to say that the disappearance of nations would have impoverished us no less than if all men had become alike, with one personality and one face. Nations are the wealth of mankind, its collective personalities; the very least of them wears its own special colours and bears within itself a special facet of divine intention.” ~ Alexander Solzhenitsy…

…and a full waist bow to Mark Stradley. I miss his excellent channel/website.

Solar Cycles, Not CO2, Determine Climate.

“Get out the fur coats, because global cooling is coming! A world-renowned atmospheric scientist and mountaineer, who has excavated ice out of 17 glaciers on 6 continents in his 50-year career, tells how we know.”

This is not too technical. When you get to the webpage, simply scroll down one page for the full article.

Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality. “The real problem …is on the signal and content end. A handful of corporations dominate everything. Net Neutrality, like so many industry battles, is just about the various titans positioning themselves on the industry battlefield by using the government to get their way.”

“Our freedom to access the internet is threatened by all of them. But the signal providers tend to care about profit and bandwidth. The content providers are getting into politics. Signal cares how much data you use. Content is starting to shape what you see for its own reasons.” ~ by Daniel Greenfield, Frontpagemag.com

Content = Google, Facebook, etc.

Signal = Comcast, ATT, etc.

Obviously, politicians favor the content side for self-serving reasons. You can forget about politicians serving the public.

A climate fairy tale

“Let the Paris climate deal die. It was never good for anything, anyway” by Bruce Pardy,   Professor of Law at Queen’s University, in Canada’s Financial Post. This column is based upon an article forthcoming in the Journal of Environmental Law and Practice.

“Paris is a climate fairy tale. It has always been more about money and politics than the environment. If human action is not causing the climate to change, Paris is irrelevant. If it is, then Paris is an obstacle to actual solutions. If there is a crisis, it will be solved when someone develops a low-carbon energy source as useful and cheap as fossil fuels. A transition will then occur without government interventions and international declarations. Until then, Paris will fix nothing. It serves interests that have little to do with atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases. Will America’s repudiation result in its eventual demise? One can hope.” –Bruce Pardy, Canada’s Financial Post, 18 May 2018

The class war you are fighting

The bone marrow of the left, the ideas that give it momentum and make its war against America a forever war,” is a class-based society, an oligarchy, a reset to the days of divine-right rule before the Magna Carta and before the American and French revolutions.   Ultimately, the leftist utopia is a society based on eugenics, wealth and power. Race, gender, politics, popular culture, media, war, educational systems, established religions, international relations are their means to that end and each of these means has its technocracy and trade craft for “radically transforming” society and government.

Reformed radical David Horowitz explains, “Chief among them [the leftist ideas] is the notion that ‘equality’ must be created by any means necessary. But, as he shows in his writings, “Disparities and disproportions of talent, intelligence and physical ability are intrinsic and so basic to the entire human enterprise that creating equality can only be accomplished by a violent social engineering, which is why the seductive utopias of the left always turn out to killing fields in disguise. The demands for ‘social justice’ by today’s progressives are just another version of the demands for equality by yesterday’s Marxist Leninists. Both promise human redemption. Both produce the destruction of human freedom.”

The dividers claim a mixed-race royal wedding marks the end of white supremacy, having been paid by the donations of the rich and powerful class. That same class by their political contributions is actively and covertly pushing a borderless, wall-less, value-less and weapon-less world … for everyone except them. As before the Magna Carta and revolutions, when the plagues come, that same class, the oligarchy, will be protected behind walls, gun turrets and layers of expendable people.

It is unequivocal and a natural law: you and I will never be equal. Or as Thomas Sowell puts it, “Nobody is equal to anybody. Even the same man is not equal to himself on different days.”  But, liberty requires that the law treats each citizen equally in the eyes of the law. The technocracy of ‘social justice’ with its trade craft known as community organization have radically transformed equality in the eyes of the law into institutions that protect the oligarchy. They can buy their private beaches, votes in Congress, never-to-be-jailed-cards, research studies, smear campaigns and “news.” You and I cannot. That was the plan for identity politics and it worked.

The intelligentsia that coagulates in schools eliminates opposition, just as done by the “White Russians” who spearheaded the Russian Revolution and the Chinese Revolution, and then the “Red Russians” eliminated them and established a tyranny of the oligarchy, while the rest of society was communist. The class struggle on the streets, whether KKK, Antifa, or Islamic, or Occupy Wall Street is the means to tyranny by oligarchy … a means to establish a class-structured social order with different rules for them and for us.

“When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.” ~ Frédéric Bastiat

This is true for governments, corporations, universities, unions, and churches. The iron law of technocracy is: The larger it is, the more it will be used against you.  The FBI, the Department of Justice, the EPA, the United Nations, the European Union, the Catholic Church, Net Neutrality and social media, courts of law, The United States of America, etc are all being actively used against you.  Apathy and tolerance enable the tyranny of class, the tyranny of oligarchy.

The founders and framers of the American republic understood human nature and natural law.  They fought with their lives, their property supported by only about thirty percent of their fellow colonists to overthrow a divine right king and an oligarchy.  They did not design a national government.  They designed a federation of state governments, leaving most of the political power to the states and the people.  And the limited powers that were authorized to the three independent parts of the federal government were designed to offset each other.  When the revolution was over, the colonists – now citizens instead of subjects – wanted to put a king’s crown on the man who led them against the mad king George of England, but George Washington refused the crown.  The colonists, now citizens, elected our first President instead…a President with limited powers.

And ever since then, oligarchs have been fundamentally transforming our republic of the people and states into the heavily centralized national government that it is today.  But the oligarchs have even larger plans that are even worse for the people.  Their utopia is global.

Social justice warriors, indoctrinated and paid by oligarchy, want a borderless globe.  Citizens fail to heed the admonitions of Thomas Jefferson, “A single consolidated government would become the most corrupt government on earth.”  In a letter to Edward Carrington, Thomas Jefferson wrote that, “The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.” He noted that “one of the most profound preferences in human nature is for satisfying one’s needs and desires with the least possible exertion; for appropriating wealth produced by the labor of others, rather than producing it by one’s own labor… the stronger and more centralized the government, the safer would be the guarantee of such monopolies; in other words, the stronger the government, the weaker the producer, the less consideration need be given him and the more might be taken away from him.” (1)

And so too citizens fail to heed the admonitions of George Washington in his farewell address to the new nation. “It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world; so far, I mean, as we are now at liberty to do it; for let me not be understood as capable of patronizing infidelity to existing engagements. I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs, that honesty is always the best policy. I repeat it, therefore, let those engagements be observed in their genuine sense. But, in my opinion, it is unnecessary and would be unwise to extend them.” …

“Taking care always to keep ourselves by suitable establishments on a respectable defensive posture, “we may safely trust to temporary alliances for extraordinary emergencies.”

Our founders and framers were not utopians.  They were utilitarian and pragmatic.  Washington and Jefferson were not arguing for isolationism.  They were arguing for strong homeland defense and arguing against empire and well-known human urges, especially the will to power.

So long as you accept the authority of government, there will always be wars and our kids, or grandkids will be cannon fodder for the leftist oligarchy.  Democracy is wholly unsuited for empire, regardless whether the empire is national or global.  Unfortunately, almost no one in politics listened or understood, much less put in practice, the sage advice of our founders and framers.  Without democracy, where does that leave you?

Yes, volcanoes in Hawaii emit CO2

EPA and global warming alarmists use reports from NOAA’s atmospheric CO2 observatory which is located on Mauna Loa.  “The Mauna Loa data are being obtained at an altitude of 3400 m in the northern subtropics, and may not be the same as the globally averaged CO2 concentration at the surface. “  https://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/  Atmospheric concentrations of CO2 are not consistent globally.  Sampling CO2 on the side of a volcano is a problem, but the problem is meaningless compared to the global warming/climate change fraud.

Yes, volcanoes emit large amounts of CO2, but the amount is small compared to emissions from oceans and land.  Volcanic activity is the only way that CO2 is returned to the atmosphere once the CO2 has been turned into limestone/CaCO3, which of course results from the continuous natural degradation of all biological material that enters the oceans.  Sedimentation of that degraded organic matter plates out in layers which eventually become stone on the bottom of all oceans.  That stone is the ultimate carbon sink.  The high heat of a volcano or deep earth magma is required in the reaction to release the CO2 from CaCO3.   CO2 in the atmosphere is the only pathway for carbon to enter the food chain.  Most CO2 re-enters the atmosphere from the oceans.  Of course, carbon is the building block for all biology.

That is the carbon cycle simply put.  Leave it to arrogant, hubristic so-called “progressives” to break that carbon cycle.  Meanwhile they sue, berate and threaten people who call them on their fraud, in addition to funneling billions of dollars of taxpayer and unwitting donor money into crony projects.

Volcanic CO2 is not a major contributor to total atmospheric CO2 concentration.  Nor are humans a major contributor to atmospheric CO2 concentration, only about 3.4%.

There are many unanswerd scientific problems which falsify the global warming hypothesis, as you know.  Most significantly, the atmosphere cannot significantly warm the oceans because of the huge difference in heat capacity, and the logarithmic/non-linear physical chemistry of CO2 energy absorption and emission. Doubling of CO2 concentration results in progressively diminishing amounts of warming.  CO2’s IR quanta are already almost filled at 400 ppm.

To scare people, they present a graphic CO2 steadily rising from 200 ppmv to 400ppmv and sound alarms to extort money.  But 200 ppmv is barely enough to keep plants alive.

Lawyers could make many millions and stop this fraud by filing triple damage cases against climate alarmists who are promoting the perhaps unintended consequence of killing the planet … or more likely … the radical reduction in human population under the disproven eugenics theories of Thomas Malthus, Paul “Population Bomb” Ehrlich,  John Holdren and Margaret Sanger…now joined by Charles, soon to be King of England.

More than you wanted or expected as usual, and most you already know, but you may want to forward it.
