Have you ever asked yourself, ‘am I crazy?’ If you have ever asked yourself that, you’re not crazy. You’re most likely being gaslighted.
Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse aimed at controlling a person by altering reality to the point where the person will doubt their own sanity.The term “gaslighting” comes from a 1930’s play called Gas Light.
The main character in the play literally tries to drive his wife crazy by gradually dimming the gas-powered lights in their home. When she notices the lights dimming, her husband not only denies that the lights are dimming, he convinces her that she is imagining it to the point where she questions her own sanity.
We are living in a perpetual state of gaslighting. The reality that we are being told by the media is at complete odds with what we are seeing with our own two eyes. And when we question the false reality that we are being presented, or we claim that what we see is that actual reality, we are vilified as racist or bigots or just plain crazy. You’re not racist. You’re not crazy. You’re being gaslighted.
New York State has twice as many deaths from Covid-19 than any other state, and New York has accounted for one fifth of all Covid-19 deaths, but we are told that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has handled the pandemic better than any other governor. But if we support policies of Governors whose states had only a fraction of the infections and deaths as New York, we’re called anti-science and want people to die. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.
We see mobs of people looting stores, smashing windows, setting cars on fire and burning down buildings, but we are told that these demonstrations are peaceful protests. And when we call this destruction of our cities, riots, we are called racists. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.
We see the major problem destroying many inner-cities is crime; murder, gang violence, drug dealing, drive-by shootings, armed robbery, but we are told that it is not crime, but the police that are the problem in the inner-cities. We are told we must defund the police and remove law enforcement from crime-riddled cities to make them safer. But if we advocate for more policing in cities overrun by crime, we are accused of being white supremacists and racists. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.
The United States of America accepts more immigrants than any other country in the world. The vast majority of the immigrants are “people of color”, and these immigrants are enjoying freedom and economic opportunity not available to them in their country of origin, but we are told that the United States is the most racist and oppressive country on the planet, and if we disagree, we are called racist and xenophobic. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.
Capitalist countries are the most prosperous countries in the world. The standard of living is the highest in capitalist countries. We see more poor people move up the economic ladder to the middle and even the wealthy class through their effort and ability in capitalist countries than any other economic system in the world, but we are told capitalism is an oppressive system designed to keep people down. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.
Communist countries killed over 100 million people in the 20th century. Communist countries strip their citizens of basic human rights, dictate every aspect of their lives, treat their citizens like slaves, and drive their economies into the ground, but we are told that Communism is the fairest, most equitable, freest and most prosperous economic system in the world. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy?No, you’re being gaslighted.
The most egregious example of gaslighting is the concept of “white fragility”. You spend your life trying to be a good person, trying to treat people fairly and with respect. You disavow racism and bigotry in all its forms. You judge people solely on the content of their character and not by the color of their skin. You don’t discriminate based on race or ethnicity. But you are told you are a racist, not because of something you did or said, but solely because of the color of your skin. You know instinctively that charging someone with racism because of their skin color is itself racist. You know that you are not racist, so you defend yourself and your character, but you are told that your defense of yourself is proof of your racism. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.
Gaslighting has become one of the most pervasive and destructive tactics in American politics. It is the exact opposite of what our political system was meant to be. It deals in lies and psychological coercion, and not the truth and intellectual discourse.
If you ever ask yourself if you’re crazy, you are not. Crazy people aren’t sane enough to ask themselves if they’re crazy. So, trust yourself, believe what’s in your heart. Trust our eyes over what we are told. Never listen to the people who tell you that you are crazy, because you are not, you’re being gaslighted.

If you consume leftist or rightist media (CNN, MSNBC, NewsCorp, etc.) — you’re being gaslighted constantly. Suggest news sources vetted for objectivity, such as AP, Reuters, and Axios (my top 3 go-to), and for op-ed: Atlantic, Economist, Foreign Affairs, and Union of Concerned Scientists.
This essay by RipMcIntosh is, in itself, an exercise in gaslighting, or what I call “bait and hammer” political journalism. The left and right both practice B&H gaslighting. In this case, it’s coming from the right.
It works like this. Every little paragraph story starts with contrived straw-man bait, and ends with the gotcha hammer (classic gaslighting). Let’s start at the beginning for an example, writer says “we are told that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has handled the pandemic better than any other governor.”
The bait statement is fake. A lie. A gaslight. “We” are not “told” that Cuomo “has handled the pandemic better than any other governor.” There is no evidence of this. No leftist media said this. I just did a Google study of common leftist media and found nothing remotely like this. All media (left and right) found Cuomo’s initial handling of the virus to ignore the science.
Here’s the reality. There have been three studies (to my knowledge) ranking the quality and effectiveness of each state’s response to CV19. None of those studies rank NY anywhere near the top, and mostly towards the bottom. Study links below (these are fact-based studies, not gaslighting).

You should send your note to Rip. I imagine he agrees with you as much as I do on the gaslighting. Trump is a master gaslighter, and all of the media you name have fallen for Trump’s gaslighting time and again. I do not agree on your choice of media. Foreign Affairs for example is the media mouthpiece of the CFR and Tri-Lateral Commission, which is the very heart of the regressive global dystopian nightmare now underway. Union of Concerned Scientists? You must be joking. The Union of Concerned Scientists was one of the first groups to support the flim-flam 1998 “study” of global warming by Michael Mann. This thoroughly discredited Mann paper proposed there wasn’t any Medieval warm period in the twelfth century, despite overwhelming historical and scientific evidence including hundreds of peer-reviewed studies. Mann improperly used statistics to adjust temperature data. All of the media outlets you named still promote the non-science. Mann refused to provide his data under court order, refusing to defend his data in a case where he sued another scientist. IPCC even removed it from their reports. The Economist, AP, Reuters, Atlantic all regurgitate the global warming dystopian fraud, promoted by the same fraudsters as the COVID-19 fraud. Here’s a clue for you: UN/WHO wants about $8.7 trillion (10% tax on world GDP) to fight COVID-19, but would only distribute that money to proponents of their “green” climate change agenda fraud.

Here’s the science as we understand it today.
Its CFR is between 0.5% and 1.0%, about 10X higher than common flu.
Its nominal Ro is between 2.5 and 5.6, about 2-3X higher than common flu.
This makes CV19 about 20-30X more virulent than common flu.
It’s anything but a hoax. With current protocols, the USA will have 310,000 CV-related deaths by November, the second highest per-capita death rate of all countries. A profound failure of national leadership.
Just as importantly, we are learning that a significant number of infections cause severe, permanent damage to lungs, heart, brain, vascular system, etc. and much of this ancillary injury occurs in youth and middle-age persons. The ancillary impact is looking more like HIV for many people. I have a friend in her 40’s who’s been bed-ridden for 3 months, unable to do anything.

Treatments: MATH+ protocol showing great results (steroid-zinc-blood thinner-VIt C/D-thiamine). Chloroquine has failed all double-blind randomized tests (so far) but many anecdotal stories of success if taken early — jury still out. Remdesavir showing promise. Strong indications that immune boosters can greatly help as prophylactic: Vit C, Vit D, Zinc, NAC, Beta Sisterol, Selenium, Boron, etc.

You can read all about it here on my blog. Search “19” or “Covid.” I heard by word of mouth the New York Slimes is even calling it a scam. It was and is over-hyped, no need to shut down the world. There are proven therapies, some you named. You have been gaslighted big time. You might consider changing your sources. This disease is far less serious than we were told and are being told.
In fact, as you can read here on this blog, so far SARs Co-V2 (aka Covid-19) has not yet been proven to cause serious disease in healthy people and neither of the normal and expected virology studies which are required to prove causation have been published on COVID-19. Until that happens, massive testing programs and vaccine developments are futile and extremely wasteful. A statistical association is not a cause. The lockdown is far worse than the disease, as Nobel Prize (chemistry), Stanford professor of biology, Michael Levitt explains.

This study by the Henry Ford Health System, a hospital system in Michigan, reports about 50% reduction in deaths in Covid-19 patients who were given hydroxychloroquine. https://www.henryford.com/news/2020/07/hydro-treatment-study This is not the only such study. Remdesavir is NOT looking good.
The Lancet study and a similar one were withdrawn. These were the studies that claimed hydrocholorquine failed double blind tests. I was one of the first critics of the methods in that paper. On this blog, you can read my critique of the Lancet study written prior to the paper’s withgrawal.

I stumbled upon your site today while trying to locate the source of one of the best articles I have ever read! The problems are more complex. For instance, how do you factor in the common good into your equation? Surely, money isn’t the only measure. How do you incentivize the good of society along with profit?

Thanks for your comment. Indeed, money is not the only measure. My answer is individual freedom and opportunity, which is the opposite direction from our present course for the last few decades. But, if money were the only measure, then the streets and cities would not be burning and there would have been no lockdowns. This is miscreant leftist ideology at work.
