Dear Congresswoman;

Final version FAXED

Dear Congresswoman Gabbard,

Illegal immigration needs to be stopped.

You seem to be working for someone other than your constituents. You are clearly NOT representing us. The job – to which you are sworn – is to represent us, Hawaiian citizens and American citizens constituent in your district.

Where does it say our U.S. Representives shall proposition us to support others, much less to support illegal aliens and their children? It is incredibly disappointing that you have once again shown contempt for your Hawaiian constituents, the American people, and for the rule of law. Your vote against H.R. 4670 shows that you care only about illegal aliens and those who want them to come to the U.S. illegally to suppress wages and cheapen labor. You have once again shown that you have no regard for our national borders or those Hawaiians and other Americans adversely impacted by illegal immigration.

Your recent email letter reply to me is worse than disgusting. All you do is talk about the poor, victimized illegal aliens and getting them out of the shadow. They are in the shadows because they or their parents are breaking duly-passed laws.  Where and when is a member of U.S. Congress authorized to protect criminals? Where and when is a member of the U.S. Congress authorized to solicit their constituents to pay for welfare and education for illegal aliens?

Your letter does not say a word about us, that is your Hawaiian constituents and Americans, who have been paying for this Democrat-sponsored welfare magnet which continues to attract illegal aliens. Shame on you! Shame on Congress.

This is your problem, Congress’ problem. Enforce the duly-passed laws NOT Obama’s illegal executive order, DACA, which even he said many times that he had no authority to write. Repeal it!

American citizens would have built the wall and enforced employment and other existing immigration law, long ago, after the terrible failure of the Reagan amnesty. Your actions and inactions are aiding U.S. corporate interests who are suppressing wages, and bringing in hardened criminals and terrorists, and costing taxpayers billions dollars each year.

According to the U.S. Treasury auditor, checks for child care sent to illegal aliens exceed by $4.2 BILLION PER YEAR the total of all taxes paid by illegal aliens. Do these criminals sound like good, productive, future Americans to you?

The Treasury’s auditor in a subsequent report points out that these payments are illegal and that Congress has done nothing about it. I disagree. Democrats like you and RINOs in Congress are making it difficult for the President to enforce the law.

Your letter of July 6, 2018 to me on your official letterhead is a disgrace to your office, to Hawaiians and to all Americans. Stop with your weeping about DACA. You mention not a word about Hawaiians or American citizens. We are being harmed daily by DACA and Congress.

Whom do you think is paying for this illegal executive order?  Have you ever considered our side? Thousands of illegal aliens including DACA “Dreamers” are in jail. Who pays for that? Who pays the court fees for repeat violent offender “Dreamer” who kills and rapes? Who pays for the victim they harmed?  Who pays for the National Guard and ICE?  Even in your best case scenario, who pays for the education and free medical care for “Dreamers?”

H.R. 4760 would have mandated use of the E-Verify system, ended chain migration, and ended the visa lottery. How can you be against this? Ending the jobs magnet that attracts illegal aliens to the U.S. would make it far less likely that people would try to come here illegally, while ending chain migration and the visa lottery would make it far easier for lower-skilled and less-educated Hawaiians and other Americans to find jobs. Your vote only benefits illegal aliens, employers like the criminal ag and fisheries employers here, coyotes, sexual and pedophile traffickers of which we have plenty here in Hawaii.  Human traffickers continue to take advantage of them…thanks to you and the rest of the Democrats and RINOs.

Consider siding with Hawaiian and beleaguered American workers, citizens and taxpayers in the future. You are supposed to represent us, not them.

Congressional letterhead

Dear Friend,

Thank you for contacting me regarding immigration issues, specifically Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).  I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this very important issue.

Our immigration system is broken and reform is long overdue for our families, small businesses, and economy in Hawai‘i and across the country. DACA is but one of the many issues that needs to address.

Since DACA was put in place, more than 800,000 young people who were brought to the United States as children, through no choice of their own, were provided legal status. I’ve met with DACA recipients in Hawai’i, who are a few of the more than 600 people in Hawai’i who because of DACA, have been able to go to college, find a job, support their family, serve their country, and live free from constant fear of deportation.

The decision to end the DACA program stands to break up families and push people back into the shadows. These are people who have grown up in the United States and know no other country to be their home.

Ultimately, the DACA executive order was a temporary fix for a problem that requires a permanent legislative solution. I remain committed to passing legislation that will resolve the uncertainty that  DACA recipients face, and continue to urge Congress to pass H.R. 3440, the Dream Act. I’ve also cosponsored H.R. 532, the DREAMer Information Protection Act, which will prohibit registration in the DACA program from being used for immigration enforcement proceedings; H.R. 496, the BRIDGE Act, which will codify the DACA program; and H.R. 60, the ENLIST Act, which will allow qualified undocumented immigrants to serve in the U.S. military and give them a lawful residence status.

Again, mahalo for sharing your thoughts with me.  This issue has generated widespread attention over the last few months and is of great importance to the American people. Please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind as Congress continues to debate this issue.
Sincerely,

TULSI GABBARD
Member of Congress
